A U.S. Coast Guard Lieutenant was arrested after investigators claimed he was planning a domestic terror attack and had a 'hit-list' that included prominent Democrats and media figures.

Christopher Paul Hasson is due in court on Thursday in Maryland after he was arrested on gun and drug charges last week.

Prosecutors said that Hasson, a 49-year-old who lives in a basement apartment in Silver Spring, espoused extremist views for years.

Court papers say Hasson drafted an email in June 2017 in which he wrote about an 'interesting idea' that included 'biological attacks followed by attack on food supply.'

Federal agents found 15 firearms and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition when Hasson was arrested.

Prosecutors allege that he had compiled a list of prominent congressional Democrats, activists, and media commentators.

He is expected to appear before a judge for a detention hearing in federal court in Greenbelt at 1pm on Thursday.

Hasson's attorney declined to comment on Wednesday.

He  wanted to establish 'a white homeland' and dreamed of ways to 'kill almost every last person on earth,' according to court records filed in U.S. District Court in Maryland and seen by The Washington Post.

It is understood that Hasson was gathering supplies and weapons since at least 2017 and had developed a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet of 'targets' that included Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The list featured the names 'JOEY,' which prosecutors said was a reference to former Congressman Joe Scarborough and 'cortez,' which was an alleged reference to freshman U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and Beto O'Rourke were also on the target list, it is believed.

Authorities seized 15 firearms, including several long-guns and rifles, and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition from his cramped basement apartment after executing a search warrant this month.

Over the last two years, he had bought nearly two dozen firearms and visited websites selling weapons or tactical gear thousands of times, sometimes using his work computer.
