A world-leading cannabis grower has given an inside look at Australia's largest cannabis factory hidden in the suburbs.

American Stock Exchange-listed Cann Group has constructed the country's largest state-of-the-art medicinal cannabis growing facility near Melbourne Airport.

Spurred on by new legalisation, the 37,000 sq m site is expected to cost the company $100million and employ 170 staff.

Using its size as a measure, the facility is capable of producing more than $13million worth of marijuana.

Medicinal cannabis was legalised for patients in exceptional circumstances in Victoria from 2017, with other states quickly following suit.
