LAPD officers are being investigated after they shot a knife-wielding man with non-lethal bullets in a February incident.
The agency announced Saturday that the user of force is now under investigation.
On February 26 LAPD officers responded to a call at a Los Angeles restaurant where a woman reported that a man holding a four-inch knife threatened her.
'He said, "Shut up or I’m going to slice your throat," she told officers.
Officers found Kenneth Sylvas, a 68-year-old LA resident, inside the restaurant holding a knife and refusing to come out.
After he refused to comply for about 10 minutes, officers approached him and fired beanbag and rubber shotgun munitions, striking him and causing him to drop the knife.
LAPD released bodycam footage of the incident where cops were called to the scene and shot the man with rubber and beanbag bullets after he refused to comply
