A 10-year-old boy has been left behind at a service station after the bus he was travelling on would not wait for him to go to the toilet.

The boy was headed to Auckland, on New Zealand's North Island, when the bus stopped at a service station in the town of Bombay - 47km away.

The driver reportedly told the boy not to get off because the bus would only be stop for two minutes.

The boy rushed to the toilet, but came back out to discover the bus had driven off without him - leaving him stranded.
