The stunning estate with sweeping views over lush Oregon countryside and a superb view of downtown Portland, was once owned by the Pittock family who invested in real estate, banking, railroads, steamboats, sheep ranching, silver mining, and the news paper industry.
The home was first built by lawyer and real estate investor J. Carroll McCaffrey. in 1887 but then Henry Pittock, the former publisher of The Oregonian owned the house from 1917. The stunning home remained in the Pittock family until 1970.
