A driver has avoided a horrifying collision on a busy highway after a pair of cyclists suddenly pulled out in front of him.

Tony Daskalakis‎ was driving along the Federal Highway in Canberra on Sunday.

As he went to take the Monaro Highway exit, dashcam footage showed a group of cyclists riding along the roadside ahead of him.

As Mr Daskalakis prepares to take the exit, a pair of cyclists at the head of the pack suddenly pull out in front of him.
