The journalist behind the internationally popular podcast The Teacher's Pet about the disappearance of Sydney woman Lyn Dawson may have 'shredded' material that could be significant to the case, a court has been told.

The lawyer for Lyn's former husband Chris Dawson told Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday that News Corp Australia journalist Hedley Thomas may have shredded or not supplied material which had the potential to send someone to jail.
