Field mouse looks to be calling for help after it is snatched by a hungry bird... but there's no escape for the little rodent The small mammal tried to wriggle free from the beak of an egret which had pounced after waiting for its prey After being caught in the bird's mouth the mouse appeared as though calling for help but was swallowed up   The pictures were taken by photographer Aalt van Tongeren in a field in Zeewolde, in the Netherlands

This mouse appeared as though it was crying for help after a hungry bird snatched it in its beak. 

The field mouse tried to wriggle free from the long beak of an egret which had pounced after waiting for its prey to emerge from a hole. 

According to photographer Aalt van Tongeren, who captured the scene, the mouse tried to escape for four long minutes before the bird finally swallowed the smaller creature to finish it off.
