A cheeky student has been spotted 'flipping the bird' in an official government booklet for parents of children completing year 12.

The Queensland Department of Education document, which was released last month, pictures there students huddled over a lit Bunsen burner on the front cover.

At first glance, it appears to be an innocuous photo, but on closer inspection, the  boy on the right can be seen making an obscene hand gesture.

The official document is supposed to be a practical guide for senior schooling, with information on subjects and courses, assessments and end of year exams.
