The hero bus passenger who stood up for a schoolgirl after she was hit on by an older man has spoken out on the incident.

Christopher Moriarty, 42, was filmed scolding a man who had allegedly tried to make a pass at a girl wearing a school uniform.

He stepped in to defend the teenager after the stranger made an unsettling comment and asked her for her age.

Footage of the incident showed the two men arguing in the back of the 433 bus from Balmain to Central during the morning commute on Tuesday.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Mr Moriarty said he felt compelled to speak up for the teen because he thought the older man was being a 'massive creep.'
