Poll reveals Boris Johnson remains 22 points ahead with grass-roots conservatives as the final stage of the Tory leadership contest draws towards a vote.

With hustlings in Birmingham completed today and conservative's 160,000 members set to cast their votes on Monday, it seems Mr Johnson remains the front runner. 

The ComRes poll conducted for The Sunday Telegraph found that Johnson remained ahead with 61 per cent of Tory Councillors intending to back Boris while just 39 per cent planned to vote Jeremy Hunt. 

Speaking at a hustings in Birmingham today, Boris Johnson did not mention the issue in his opening comments, insisting: 'We need to get Brexit done... and I am the right man.'
