New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is set to visit Melbourne this week to deliver a speech on good governance.

Ms Arden will deliver her address titled 'Why does good government matter?' at Melbourne Town Hall on Thursday night.

She is being hosted by the City of Melbourne and the Australia and New Zealand School of Government.

Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp said she was looking forward to hearing from one of the world's "most respected and inspiring leaders".
