President Donald  took his fury over a botched New York Times story that accused Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of a new allegation of sexual misconduct to a New Mexico campaign rally, where he demanded resignations from everyone who worked on the piece.

on Monday was on his first trip back to the Democratic-leaning state since losing New Mexico in the 2016 presidential election and used the rally to spew venom at the Times for its handling of the story.

'I call for the resignation of everybody at The New York Times involved in the Kavanaugh smear story,' he told the crowd in Rio Rancho. 

'And while you're at it, the Russian witch hunt hoax, which is just as phony a story,' said the president, in a reference to investigations into whether was involved in Russia's meddling in the presidential contest that he won.

'They've taken the old Grey Lady, so prestigious, and broken her down, destroyed her virtue, and ruined her reputation. She can never recover, and will never return to greatness under current management,' he continued.

The Times came under fire for not initially reporting that the victim in its Sunday story mentioning the new allegation had declined to be interviewed. The piece also did not include that friends of the victim say she doesn't remember the incident.

The omissions were later reversed after a Times staffer discovered the missing details in a book on which the story is based. 

Despite the embarrassing update to the story, Senate Democrats and presidential candidates still demanded Kavanaugh's impeachment, bringing on a heated response from the president in New Mexico.

'Look at what they're doing today to Justice Kavanaugh today. Do you see? The Democrats are calling for his resignation. They're calling for his impeachment, and the woman involved said she doesn't know anything,' bellowed to a crowd of adoring supporters.

He continued that the 'the New York Times had to put out a major apology, and they had to change their story ... and they still want him to be impeached!'
