Maine man, 65, is killed by homemade boobytrap which he attached to his front door to shoot anyone who tried to break in to his home Ronald Cyr, 65, of Maine was shot by his own homemade security device The Van Buren man called police saying he was shot in his home on Thursday  When cops arrived to the scene they found a contraption on the front door designed to fire a handgun at anyone trying to enter it  Officers found other unknown devices around the house and contacted the bomb squad to investigate the boobytraps Cyr died from his wounds sustained from the gunshot

A Maine man was killed by his own homemade security device that he set up on the front door of his residence to shoot anyone attempting to break in, police say. 

Ronald Cyr, 65, of Van Buren, called 911 saying he had been shot in his home on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. 

When responding officers arrived to the scene they discovered a homemade contraption on the front door that was designed to fire a handgun if anyone attempted to enter the home, according to the Van Buren Police
