Piers Morgan accuses Meghan Markle of spitting Prince Harry from the Royal ...

Piers Morgan has pointed the finger at Meghan Markle for driving a wedge between Prince Harry and the Royal Family after the couple sensational resigned from their official duties tonight.

In a stinging attack following this evening's announcement, the Good Morning Britain presenter said the Duchess had a history of destroying relationships and reeled off a list of those with whom she has cut ties.

He tweeted: 'People say I'm too critical of Meghan Markle - but she ditched her family, ditched her Dad, ditched most of her old friends, split Harry from William & has now split him from the Royal Family. I rest my case.'

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed their intention on Instagram 'to step back as "senior" members of the Royal Family' to spend more time in Canada, where they have recently returned from holiday.

Piers, who has had a long-running feud with Meghan since he accused the former Suits actress of 'ghosting' him, also referenced a quote attributed to Harry after the Duke reportedly told Kensington Palace staff 'what Meghan wants, Meghan gets' as they prepared to move out in 2018.

The broadcaster has often blasted the couple for hypocrisy, especially after they banged the drum for environmentalism while taking gas-guzzling private planes.

And he doubled down on these accusations after Meghan refused to be photographed at Wimbledon despite using millions of public money to renovate Frogmore Cottage.

The Royals have also waged war on the British press, which Canadian journalist Meghan Murphy said had 'bullied' Meghan in a campaign which was 'painful to watch'.

But Piers hit back on Twitter: 'Oh pur-lease. What's been "painful to watch" has been their absurd woke hypocrisy & constant whining. All on our dime.'
