Mother-of-two, 36, beat up schoolgirl, 14, and threatened to slit her throat

A mother of two who nicknamed herself 'The Iron Lady' beat up a 14-year-old schoolgirl and vowed to slit her throat after the victim got into a fight with her stepdaughter.

Carla Wiles, 36, jumped into her car after being told about the fight and ambushed the student on the street when she spotted the girl walking along a pavement.

Wiles grabbed the terrified victim by the hair and shouted, 'Have you been hitting my daughter?' then repeatedly kicked and punched her about the face and body.

She then warned the girl: 'If you touch my daughter again, I'm going to slit your throat and your mum's throat.'

Stepdaughter Olivia, then aged 14, also joined in the attack, kicking her classmate in the face and the back.

The injured girl suffered a broken nose and multiple bruising in the assault in February 2017.

At Minshull Street Crown Court, Wiles, from Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, was sentenced to two years jail suspended for two years after she was convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and making threats to kill at an earlier hearing in July 2019.

Olivia, now 18, was given a nine-month youth rehabilitation order and was ordered to pay the victim £250 compensation after being convicted of assault.

Sentencing was delayed on Wiles due to repeated adjournments because she tried, unsuccessfully, to appeal her convictions.

The court heard the victim was targeted following a feud with Wiles's stepdaughter over 'catty remarks.'

Prosecutor Andrew Evans said: 'She suffered from dyspraxia and dyslexia and knew the defendant's stepdaughter from school. She had gone to meet some friends when she encountered Olivia who was making unpleasant remarks about her and trying to goad her into a fight. Olivia tried to grab the girl by the hair and the girl did the same and they both went to the floor.
