The View's Joy Behar is slammed as 'homophobic' for making crude joke about 'penetration in the end zone' and saying it's 'not that big a deal' Carl Nassib has come out as first gay NFL player Behar and her co-hosts were discussing Carl Nassib's announcement on Tuesday She kicked off the segment by saying: 'It's 2021, is this such a big deal?'  Her co-hosts told her that it was, since Carl is the first active NFL player to come out  She then joked at the end of the segment 'You know after they said penetration in the end zone they lost me.’ Behar's co-hosts Meghan McCain and Sara Haines grimaced immediately She then told viewers 'That inappropriate joke I made for daytime television - scratch it. Make believe I never said it'  She stood by her earlier remarks, saying: 'I just long for the days where you can just be gay in the world and it doesn’t become a big deal'  Twitter users slammed her as homophobic and said 'gay jokes were never funny' A handful of gay Twitter users defended her, saying they weren't offended

The View host Joy Behar has been slammed as homophobic for making a crude joke about 'penetration in the end zone' and asking 'is it really that big a deal?' after Carl Nassib became the first active NFL player to come out as gay on Tuesday. 

Behar and her colleagues were discussing Carl Nassib's announcement on their ABC show when she kicked off the segment saying: 'I know he's the first active NFL player ever to come as gay but come on it's 2021, is this such a big deal?' 

Then, after being told by her co-hosts that it was a big deal, she joked: 'You know after they said penetration in the end zone they lost me.’
