County singer Sara Evans filed for divorced from her estranged husband, former University of Alabama quarterback Jay Barker, four months before he was arrested in Nashville for allegedly trying to hit her with his car.

Barker, 49, was arrested on Saturday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon stemming from his suspected attempt to mow down his wife of 12 years.

Barker was placed on a $10,000 bond with a 12-hour hold because it was a domestic violence case. He was released on Saturday night after posting bond.
