Former Attorney-General Christian Porter and his lawyer have been ordered to pay nearly half a million dollars to the friend of a woman who accused Mr Porter of historical rape.
The woman, Jo Dyer, an arts administrator from South Australia, sought payment of her legal costs for a case she brought against Mr Porter and his barrister, Sue Chrysanthou, in May 2021.
The Federal Court has now ordered that Mr Porter and Ms Chrysanthou both pay Ms Dyer's legal costs in the amount of $430,200.
Ms Dyer was a close friend of the woman who had accused Mr Porter of raping her in January 1988 while both were in Sydney for the World Universities’ Debating Championships.
The accuser tragically took her own life in 2020.
