A glamourous young candidate who was stood down from her job for refusing a Covid-19 vaccine is 'fighting for freedom' this election under the United Australia Party banner.

Juanita Paterson, 23, is the UAP's newest candidate for the seat of Lalor in Melbourne's south-west.

Ms Paterson, who describes herself as 'pro-choice', joined the party after she was stood down from her job as a primary school teacher for refusing to take the Covid-19 vaccine.

'I'm a dedicated and hard-working teacher who strives to improve the learning outcomes for all students but now I have been stood down without pay,' she said in a statement on the UAP website.

Ms Paterson expressed her love for teaching students and subsequent shock when she was stood down for not having the vaccine.

'My livelihood and career have come to a complete halt so I am re-directing my passion to speak out against this totalitarian government,' she claims.

Ms Paterson has referred to her stance as 'pro-choice, pro-freedom, pro-bodily autonomy and pro-informed consent'.

She adds that she is 'anti medical apartheid, segregation, coercion and discrimination'.

She has been most affected by what she believes is a divide in the country over vaccine mandates.

'We must restore this nation and humanity,' she continued.

'Every freedom we surrender is a freedom the next generation never knew existed. I believe we are one race – the human race – and that is our superpower.'
