Troubled former NBA star Delonte West was seen loitering outside of a 7/11 convenience store in Virginia where he appeared to be asking people for money and at one point seemed to accept a handful of dollar bills.

The video emerges just days after West, 38, who suffers from bipolar disorder and previously played alongside NBA legend LeBron James, was filmed panhandling on the side of the road.

In the new footage, taken yesterday, West was seen in the convenience store's parking lot where he was smoking cigarettes, talking to seemingly random passersby, and climbing on top of an ice cooler to plug his phone into an outlet.

West - who earned more than $16million in his career - appeared to be asking people for money, and at one point looked to accept a handful of cash from somebody leaving the store.

The recent sightings come just weeks after he was reportedly trying to stage a basketball comeback.

Footage posted to social media over the weekend showed West on the side of the highway - also in Alexandria. It remains unclear when the footage was recorded.

In one clip posted online, a fan exchanges pleasantries with the man believed to be West and says, 'My dog Delonte, how you doing my brother?'

West's response was not audible.

The driver who posted the pictures to Twitter seemed extremely surprised to see West on the side of the road.

'Seems Delonte West on Richmond highway in Virginia 2 days ago. What happened so quick? A few months ago I thought they were trying to get him into the Big3 league,' he tweeted.

West started his NBA career when he was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2004 NBA Draft, and eventually became a starter alongside LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2008.

West earned over $16 million during his nine-year career, which ended after his only season with the Mavericks in 2011-2012, when he was just 28. He was suspended indefinitely over a series of arguments and never returned to the NBA.

West was supposed to be making a basketball comeback with The Big 3, according to an April announcement. However, a source told DaiyMail.com that he 'no showed' the league's May draft.

The Big 3 League - which features 3-on-3 games - was founded by Ice Cube in 2017, and calls on veteran NBA players to fill its ranks.
