A 'difficult cohort' of young offenders is being moved to an adult prison after months of destroying infrastructure, assaulting staff and causing almost $2million in damages.
The group of 20 boys, the youngest just 14 years old, had significant offending histories and also harmed themselves at Banksia Hill Detention Centre in Perth.
The reign of violence had left more than 100 of Banksia Hill's 260 cells damaged and more than 30 unfit for use.
They will be moved to a new youth detention facility at Casuarina Prison, south of Perth.

In one case, a boy escaped from his cell and attacked an officer with a broom.
West Australian Corrective Services Minister Bill Johnston said youth detention centres were not built as securely as prisons, so relocating this group was necessary to ensure the safety of custodial officers.
