University of Alabama basketball star Darius Miles did not shoot a Birmingham mother, but did own the gun used to kill her, according to newly-released court documents.

Prosecutors say Miles provided his friend Michael Lynn Davis, 20, with his gun after the two became involved in a 'minor altercation' with Jamea Jonae Harris, 23, early Sunday morning.

The mother-of-one apparently tried to flee in a Jeep when Davis fired on the vehicle — striking and killing Harris. The driver then fired back, hitting one of the suspects who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities now suggest Miles knew Davis was going to kill Harris when he provided him with his gun.

Both suspects have been charged with capital murder, which carries the possibility of the death penalty in Alabama.

Charging documents released Tuesday say security footage from the scene of the shooting proves that Davis, a DC resident, is the one who fired the shot that killed Harris. She was shot only once, the documents say.

But, they say, Miles 'intentionally caused the death of Jamea Harris by aiding and abetting by providing a firearm to Michael Davis, who shot Jamea Harris' while she was in a Jeep.

Police have previously reported that the two parties had gotten into a minor argument on 'The Strip' – an area near the University campus.

Harris got into a Jeep and drove down University Boulevard at around 1:45am when the gunfire erupted, but the driver continued down the road until he reached University of Alabama police near Bryant-Denny Stadium and reported that someone had 'shot into the vehicle.'

That is when authorities noticed Harris was dead inside the vehicle.

Authorities say the driver admitted firing back, adding that he may have struck a suspect, who was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.

Police were finally able to identify the two suspects after speaking to multiple witnesses and viewing video surveillance footage they say clearly shows Davis firing on the vehicle.
