The Mexican government has identified the woman who was killed by a stray bullet after a cartel opened fire during the kidnapping of four Americans, including two who were later found dead.
Arely Servando, 33, was caught in the middle of last Friday's attack in the northeastern border city of Matamoros when the Gulf Cartel's Scorpions Group intercepted the Americans' minivan.
Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villareal revealed that she was shot while she was standing about a block and half away from where the cartel launched their attack, the tail end of it which was captured on video by a bystander.
Servando was stepping out of a public bus when one of the bullets fired by the cartel henchmen struck her, local media outlets reported.
