The University of Georgia student who suffered a horrific brain bleed in Mexico while on Spring Break now has a tumor, her heartbroken mother revealed.
Liza Burke, 21, was complaining about having headaches while on vacation before being put on life support - and now doctors have found a tumor on her brain stem.
Her mother Laura McKeithen said the tumor, which is still undergoing testing, had likely been dormant for years. She said: 'The tumor became aggressive in a very short time.'
Liza's mom said her daughter is currently on a ventilator and breathing on her own but said until she responds to their commands - a toe wiggle or a hand squeeze - the doctors are reluctant to remove the vent.
McKeithen said the radiologist appears optimistic and her daughter may be able to undergo radiation treatments as early as Monday. She asked people to pray for her daughter's responsiveness and that she continue her fighting spirit.
