An SNP stalwart has accused his own ­government of ‘constitutional wrangling’ amid its failure to deliver justice for victims of the Post Office scandal in Scotland.

In a fresh salvo against his party, Fergus Ewing said Scottish Ministers are attempting to manufacture a ‘political bun fight’ with the UK Government after MPs passed the landmark Horizon Bill this month.

The Bill will lead to the convictions of ­hundreds of sub-postmasters who were victims of the Horizon IT scandal in England and Wales being overturned.

Even though the First Minister was warned weeks in advance that the laws could not cover Scotland because of its different legal system, Humza Yousaf said he was disappointed that the laws were not UK-wide and called on ­Westminster politicians to ‘think again’.

He also bemoaned that a Scottish version of the laws would have to wait until the Westminster Bill had passed to ensure there was no cross-border friction.

SNP stalwart Fergus Ewing has urged Ministers to deliver justice while Post Office scandal victim Myra Philp has demanded action from the Scottish Government 

That is despite it being within the Scottish parliament’s remit to create its own law.

Last night Mr Ewing – an outspoken critic of Mr Yousaf’s regime who was recently re­instated into the SNP after a brief suspension – called on the First Minister to speed up the rollout of emergency Scottish legislation to ­exonerate victims.
