In a delightful twist on the age-old North-South divide, a recent survey reveals that northern charm reigns supreme when it comes to neighbourly friendliness in the UK.

While the eternal debate of Northern hospitality versus Southern reserve rages on, social networking service Nextdoor have designed a system that tots 'neighbourly' attributes and come up with a Good Neighbour score out of 100.

Nextdoor's study has found that neighbours in the North of England are more likely to have a conversation over the garden fence, feed your pet, accept deliveries and keep a watchful eye over your home while you're away.

As Northerners emerge as the epitome of warmth and hospitality, Liverpudlians are leading the pack overall as the friendliest neighbors in the nation.

Scoring an impressive 72 out of 100, Liverpool is home to neighbours who are most likely to lend you a cup of sugar, give you a lift or put your bins out when you're in need.
