Tributes have flooded in for a 'superhero' father who died trying to save his son from a house fire, before the pair died from their injuries.

Barry Mason, 45, rushed into the terraced home in Wigan, Greater Manchester, to save his four-year-old son Ethan when it went up in flames on Sunday, April 14.

While Barry died shortly after, Ethan was brought to hospital following his miraculous rescue where he was found to have suffered 70 per cent burns to his body.

Despite his family's hopes that he might pull through after multiple surgeries, they took to social media to confirm Ethan had passed away yesterday.

Ethan's aunt Jessica Causer shared a heartfelt tribute today with a poignant image of the pair, saying that they were now back together again.

She wrote: 'Our very own superhero. Barry, we are heartbroken. Such a gentle giant and a devoted Daddy until your last breath.

'Words will never describe just how grateful we are to you, hold our baby tight up there.'

Around the vehicles lay wind-blown bouquets thrown over a metal fence with written tributes from locals appalled by the unbearable tragedy.

One, left just this morning, read: 'Eternally together forever' written after Ethan passed away two days after his father.

A woman who left the flowers said: 'I did not know them but it doesn't matter. I had to leave something.

'That poor mother and the rest of the children have suffered something we
