A man has been arrested near Wollongong over the murder of a well-known greyhound racing bookie who was found dead in his Sydney garage 28 years ago.

The body of Charles Skarratt, 72, was discovered in the garage of his home in the harbourside suburb of Woolwich on December 22, 1989.
