To most people around the world, North Korea is a closed book, with only Kim Jong-Un and his quest for a long-range nuclear missile on the cover.

However, as these images show, everyday life goes on in the secretive state despite international sanctions against its government.

They have been taken by tourists holidaying across North Korea and gives a glimpse of the natural of the countryside in contrast to the immaculate government buildings of Pyongyang.

The secret snaps captured on mobile phones also show the vast differences between the staged events in the large cities and abject poverty of the countryside.
