Federal MP's from both parties have started a push for an overhaul of student loan repayments which if successful would mean debt will be collected after death. 

Currently student loan debt is written off after death which costs Australian taxpayers billions of dollars each year The West Australian reported.  

Western Australian Liberal MP Ben Morton and Victorian Labor MP Julian Hill are leading the calls for change siting the benefits of collecting student debt from deceased estates.
