A veteran harness racing trainer suffered a mid-race heart attack which saw him fall from his cart before being trampled by another horse during the event.

Tony Ciuppa is in a critical condition after suffering a heart attack during the fourth race earlier this week.

The 72-year-old fell from his sulky, a lightweight cart attached to the back of his horse Guns With Cows, at Gloucester Park, Western Australia,The West reported.
