Although he was miles away serving his country, one doting father found a way to support his daughter as she headed off to a cheer competition.

On Friday night nine-year-old Mikayla Lange was enjoying a competition send-off for her team when she was surprised with a video that displayed her father performing a surprise cheer routine with his National Guard unit.

Friday's send-off began with a surprise dance by all the fathers of the cheerleaders.
Bearing in mind that Mikayla's father couldn't be a part of the event, the team decided do something special for the little girl.
'For those that may not know, little Mikayla's dad is deployed, so he could not be here today. So we wanted you to feel special and all of those dads are now your dad,' a cheer instructor said according to WHOTV.
Following, all the fathers at the event lined up and presented Mikayla with a flower and an American flag, as a sign of solidarity with her father.
Then her father appeared on a giant screen at the event.
'Hey Mikayla, I’m sorry I cant be there with ya but I can't wait to get home and see ya!' he said.
