Three people have died in a devastating head-on collision after a car reportedly drifted on to the wrong side of the road.

An 18-year-old driver and two other people travelling in a second car died instantly following the collision on Ipswich Road in Brisbane's south on Sunday. 

The teenager, who was driving a silver Holden Commodore, clipped a third car, but all three people inside survived.
