The social media giant was accused yesterday of over-reacting after a comedian was told he couldn’t promote his show ‘Brexit Through The Gift Shop’. In order to clamp down on political interference on its platform, the US company has taken the drastic measure following the backlash it faced over supposed Russian interference in the US election. Creator of the programme and comedian Matt Forde was told that the title of his show breached new rules on advertisement concerning politics and “issues of national importance”.
Mr Forde was told that there was no way around the problem other than to remove Brexit from the title.
He told The Sun: “I’m flattered that they think I’m a greater threat to their users than the collapse of global democracy.
“Obviously what I forgot to do was offer Facebook the personal data of my friends and family.
“I realise my mistake and next time I want to run an ad, I’ll make sure that I bring skips full of secure data stolen from
