The season finale saw Carol Peletier (played by Melissa McBride) break up with Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and head off with Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) to Alexandria.
She attempts to give her ring back to Ezekiel and abandon him.
Now, The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang has suggested that trouble lies ahead for Ezekiel and it may lead to his death.
She has revealed to Entertainment Weekly: “There’s definitely a lot of fertile ground for Ezekiel, because the interesting thing with our show is we rarely kill a person the same way on the show that Kirkman did in the comic.

“Glenn is a notable exception. We definitely have a story that I’m really excited about telling for Ezekiel in season 10. I’ve talked to Khary about it.
“It opens a door to do something that’s different and really hopefully interesting for people to see with Ezekiel in the next chapter of dealing with the breakup of his home and his family and the loss of his child. Hopefully good character stuff can come out of it all.”

In the comics Ezekiel dies when Alpha decapitates him alongside Rosita and places their heads on spikes to send a warning to the communities.
In true The Walking Dead fashion, the producers changed the script and chose not to kill off the two characters, but used the scene in season nine, episode 15 to kill off other minor characters.
