A state of emergency has been declared in Iran after at least 26 of the 31 provinces have been hit by heavy downpours that began on March 19. The flooding has so far killed 62 people and has been the worst the country has seen in a decade. Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif went on a furious rant at Mr Trump for not relaxing sanctions following Washington’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal.
In a post on Twitter Mr Zarif said the Trump administration was “impeding aid efforts by #IranianRedCrescent to all communities devastated by unprecedented floods.
“Blocked equipment includes relief choppers: This isn't just economic warfare; it's economic TERRORISM.”
Since the controversial withdrawal from the treaty Western oil and gas firms have been forced to pull out of Iran.
