The two countries have seen relations diminish since the US withdrew from the 2015 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF). Speaking at an event on Sunday, Mohammad Javad Zarif pleaded with countries across the world to end the dominance of the US dollar in the economic system, Iran press reported. Mr Zarif warned that the US’ influence would “go away” if countries around the world would ditch as the basis for their international trade.
He added: “America’s power rests on the dollar; a great part of America’s economic power will go away if countries eliminate the dollar from their economic systems.”
Mr Zariff’s quotes come after he accused the US of instituting “economic terrorism” on the Islamic Republic.
Speaking last week, Mr Zarif said: “Economic Terrorism against Iran targets innocent civilians.
“This is Donald Trump’s ‘economic war’.
