Thomas had criticised his daughter and her husband Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex for taking four private flights in eleven days, while also pleading to see his grandson in an interview with the Mail on Sunday. Meghan’s father did not attend her wedding last year, with poor health cited as the reason. A source close to Harry and Meghan told The Sun it is “unlikely” that 75-year-old Mr Markle will ever meet his grandson, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
They added: "It’s a terribly sad situation but Meghan has made the very difficult decision that she doesn’t have an active relationship with her father any more.
“This was actually a decision she made some time ago and it is something she’s now coming to terms with.
“It’s obviously heartbreaking for her but she has to protect herself, her husband and her son."
Mr Markle said the only image he has seen of Archie are official ones released publicly.
