Today’s edition of ITV programme This Morning saw Downton Abbey stars Imelda Staunton and Laura Carmichael, who play Lady Bashaw and Lady Edith Crawley respectively, appearing for a chat about the new film before its release in cinemas.
Interviewed by presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, the actresses were full of excitement when it comes to the return of the film.
While Lady Edith has been a staple in the series since the very beginning, Lady Bashaw is a new edition to the cast, and will face a major stand-off against the Dowager Countess Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith).
Yet when discussion turned to that of a second film to add to the franchise, Imelda had some worrying comments about the possibility.
“I can see it now, Bagshaw is back!” the esteemed actress joked at first.
Dodging the question of a sequel, Imelda considered carefully: “I do think were going to satisfy the people [with this one].
“We’re all a little bit greedy aren’t we? “We want more!” the actress laughed. “We haven’t even had our main course yet and we want our pudding.”
Despite her attempts not to stoke the fire she continued with a gentle warning to fans hopeful of a return.
