With the first season of the popular US show in full swing, last week’s premiere, which featured Alan Carr, Michelle Visage and guest Andrew Garfield, alongside host RuPaul, saw one queen be the first to sashay away. Speaking to Express.co.uk the first queen to be knocked out the competition, Gothy Kendoll, revealed what it was like to be on the show, the close knit community of drag in the UK, and being starstruck, but not by who you’d think.
Gothy received perhaps the most iconic feedback in last week’s episode, with Alan Carr commenting that: “She looks like an estate agent that’s gone to Regent’s Park zoo and said, 'can you face paint my face paint for 50p?' and then gone back to work.”
The drag queen, 21, from Leicester revealed that “there’s no real age divide” between the younger and older queens, as they have “all got something to learn off each other”.
Gothy, who first got into drag as a fashion Communications student at university, told Express.co.uk that her inspiration came from “researching a lot of 80s political people” and noted that her main inspirations were “Grace Jones and Annie Lennox who were playing with gender”.
She said that after a night out with a few drag queens, she became “obsessed”, adding: “This is what I need to do.”

On who she was most nervous to meet, she confessed: “I was most nervous about meeting Michelle because she’s an intimidating b***h!”
“She’s got this hard kind of face, she’s quite scary,” she joked.
On the other hand, she labelled Ru as “more chilled than Michelle,” and said who she was really starstruck by, and it’s not who you would think.
“I feel like the person I was most starstruck by, you know Raven, who does Ru’s make up who was on season two? I was really starstruck by her.”
