Death in Paradise is undergoing a cast shake-up with a brand new detective leading the show when it returns in the New Year. Following star Ardal O'Hanlon's announcement he was leaving, there was much speculation about who would be taking on the role. The rumour mill was sent into a frenzy after the BBC released an image teasing the new main detective with a shot of the character with their back to the camera.
There was speculation comedians such as Lee Mack or Steve Coogan could be taking on the role of the ratings hit, which draws in an average audience of eight million.
Prior to the BBC's confirmation, there were unconfirmed reports of Ralf Little taking on the part.
The BBC has now revealed that Little will indeed be solving murders on the sun-soaked Island paradise of Saint Marie.
Speaking about joining the popular crime series, Little said: “It took less than 0.005 seconds to say yes to playing the new DI! How could I not?
"Ardal has been wonderful in the last few series and to follow in his footsteps in a place as idyllic as Guadeloupe was a great honour and a dream come true.
