Former Countdown favourite Carol Vorderman, 59, chatted to her co-star Nathan Sussex on BBC Radio Wales where the pair discussed work experience in their earlier years. But it was a text message the Welsh-born presenter received from her pal and The Chase star Mark Labbett, 54, which left Carol taken aback.
She told listeners: “My mate Mark Labbett, who is the giant Welshman on The Chase, we were talking about work experience.”
The ITV star, who is commonly referred to as The Beast, revealed his love for quizzes came from his younger years where he worked on the machines at Butlins during his work experience days.
Carol continued: “This is genuine and he texted me this morning and he said ‘I did work experience at Butlins and I discovered quiz machines.’
“I went, ‘Oh, yeah right. You’re kidding me.’

“Well done, Mark,” Carol remarked, following his quiz confession.
The Beast has been a firm fixture on The Chase since he made his debut on the programme in 2009.
He has since gone onto appear as a quizmaster in the US version of the ITV show and more recently on The Chase Australia in 2016.
