The Master’s (played by Sacha Dhawan) return was the first of many time-stopping plot twists to air over the course of the twelfth season of Doctor Who. Having battled with the Time Lord (Jodie Whittaker) many times before, the villain has made himself one of the Gallifreyan’s greatest foes. However, the latest incarnation of the menacing character left many viewers scratching their heads as to how a comeback was possible, given the last time the menace was seen, Missy (Michelle Gomez) was killed off. Now, the newcomer to the role has spoke out about the plot hole of the BBC sic-hit drama.
During the first episode of the twelfth season, The Master was up to his old ricks as he duped his fellow Time Lord into a death-defying situation, which left her companions Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill), Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cloe) and Graham O'Brien (Bradley Walsh) in mortal peril.
However, the Gallifreyan was steps ahead as a future version of herself managed to send clues back to the past on how her friends could fight to live another day.
By the end of the two-parter, the Doctor had managed to scupper her enemies plans and sent him into an abyss, only for a pre-recorded message delivered by the TARDIS to reveal the villain had destroyed their home planet of Gallifrey.
Just before the most recent episode ended, the heroes arch-rival made yet another unexpected appearance as he had seemingly escaped his holding, but the comeback has made fans question how indeed any of this is possible.
