Fans of Outlander were delighted to see the series return to Starz in America and Amazon Prime in the UK. Episodes have been airing weekly and viewers have fallen in love with the setting. Here’s everything you need to know about the filming of the new series.
Season five is going to be picking up after the events of the fourth run.
So, fans will be taken back to Fraser’s Ridge in North Carolina and reunited with their favourite characters.
The fifth outing is going to be based on author Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels The Fiery Cross and A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
Based on The Fiery Cross’ timeline, season five will start off in 1770 on the cusp of the American Revolutionary War.

The last series left things on a dramatic note after Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) was called upon to fulfil his oath by General Tyron (Tim Downie) and form a militia as well as hunting down Murtagh Fraser (Duncan Lacroix).
While the key setting will be Fraser’s Ridge and Claire Fraser’s (Caitriona Balfe) surgery, there will also be other settings as Jamie is sent to find his fugitive godfather.
Also, the show will see Jamie forced to fight in battle and drafted out to the frontline.
Outlander is known to have diverged from the source material, so there could be other settings.
Given the show’s inclusion of time travel, there could also be a return to the future at some point.
