The writers of Grey’s Anatomy have already confirmed fans will find out exactly why Dr Alex Karev (played by Justin Chambers) will be leaving Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital for good. He hasn’t been featured in the ABC medical drama since November when the doctor said he had to go and take care of his sick mother. However, little did fans know this was going to be his last appearance in the series.
In a statement announcing his exit, Chambers said: “There’s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that’s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years.
“For some time now, however, I have hoped to diversify my acting roles and career choices.
“And, as I turn 50 and am blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is that time.”
However, there are now concerns he won’t be the only beloved cast member to be leaving the show.

But the disastrous combination of freezing conditions and the surgeon not wearing any gloves could potentially mean the end of his career at the hospital as he returned with severe frostbite on both hands.
Speaking to TV guide, director Linda Klein said: “We should be very worried.
“He’s a doctor and a surgeon and that’s [his hands] what they need to continue on with their beautiful life. So we should be very worried.”
