Aldi customers have been in a frenzy this week as they queued up to buy a piece of sell-out garden furniture. The supermarket’s latest Specialbuys included an online exclusive for the bestselling hanging egg chair - a stylish piece that sold out when it was first released last year. Shoppers revealed the lengths they’d gone to in order to snap up the chic chair on social media.
Aldi customers queued in their thousands on the website in the early hours of Sunday morning in the hope of being one of the lucky few to get it before it went out of stock.
The garden furniture Specialbuys this week were made available online from Sunday, while other pieces in the range will also be available to buy in store from Thursday this week.
However, the popular egg chair was an online exclusive, meaning shoppers had to be quick and get onto the website to order as the new range was released.
It’s now sold out online after shoppers flooded the site with their orders for the £149.99 chair.

Shoppers took to Twitter to reveal how long they’d waited to make their order, with many of them staying up on Saturday night until the early hours of Sunday morning.
Twitter user @MaeKidney posted: "Guess who has huge bags under their eyes today because they were up until gone 2am in a 2 hour long virtual queue (I was over 19,000 in the queue but didn’t give up hope), to then sit refreshing the webpage continuously but is now the proud owner of an Aldi garden egg chair."
Others said the process was incredibly stressful as they flocked to buy the bestseller.
It’s likely the garden furniture range was in even more demand as families around the UK remain in lockdown, spending more time in their homes than last summer.
