Facebook Messenger has today unveiled an app for communal video viewing. The Silicon Valley social media giant has debuted its latest upgrade to the social media platform called Watch Together.

This shiny new feature encourages users to view videos from Facebook Watch while also seeing live real-time reactions of their friends

Facebook Watch is being rolled out around the world from today on both Apple's iOS and Google's Android.

Nora Micheva, Product Manager for Messenger, told Express.co.uk: “We’re excited to bring Watch Together so people can experience videos together in real time.

“We created this feature to make spending quality time with friends and loved ones feel as close to an in-person experience as possible”.

A few months ago, Facebook introduced several new tools to help users stay in touch with family and friends wherever, regardless of where they are in the world.

But Watch Together is taking this to a whole new level so users can experience Facebook Watch videos with others over Messenger video calls and Messenger Rooms.
