The former Vice President warned the next US presidential debate should not go ahead if Mr Trump does not fully recover from coronavirus. Mr Biden made the remarks as he arrived for a campaign speech in Hagerstown, Maryland. It comes after the President was discharged from hospital after only three days after testing positive for COVID-19.
Mr Biden spoke to reporters ahead of his campaign speech to pour cold water on hopes for the next debate.
He said: “I think if he still has COVID we shouldn’t have a debate.”
But despite Mr Trump’s diagnosis, the Democrat still said he was ready to go.
He added: “I’m not sure what President Trump is all about now. I don’t know what his status is.
“I’m looking forward to being able to debate him, but I just hope all the protocols are followed.”

When asked about how he felt the next debates should be handled in the wake of the White House outbreak, Mr Biden touted more protections against coronavirus.
He said: “I think what they’re doing at the Harris debate, I’ve been told, I don’t know this for fact, they’re using plexiglass, and are following what the Cleveland Clinic says.”
Kamala Harris, Mr Biden’s choice for Vice President, will debate Mr Trump’s second Mike Pence on Thursday.
Mr Pence’s representatives have refused to accept a plexiglass partition between him and Ms Harris at the debates.
