Lupin has already become one of Netflix’s most successful international shows, despite only launching at the end of January. The first part of the series featured five episodes following Assane Diop (played by Omar Sy) as he looked for clues about his father’s arrest and death. However, it seems like there could be more to the story than meets the eye.

Netflix series Lupin follows Assane as he seeks to avenge his father for being wrongly accused of theft many years prior.
As viewers will know, Babakar Diop (Fargass Assandé) was suspected of stealing an expensive necklace from Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre).

Throughout the series, Assane slowly uncovers more about what really happened when he was just a teenager.

However, there are also some clues Babakar may have not even taken his own life in the series.
This theory is based on how Pellegrini’s henchman Leonard (Adama Niane) kills journalist Fabienne Beriot (Anne Benoit) for getting too close to the truth in episode five.
Viewers will have noticed the heartbreaking murder was made to look just like Babakar’s suicide.
